Zip Code Searches for San Francisco Real Estate Don't Work. Here is why.

Zipcodes often don't work in San Francisco. As you can see, zip code 94118 includes both Central Richmond and Presidio Heights. Let's calculate the two neighborhoods' median house sales prices. Central Richmond has a Median Sales Price of $2,225,000, and in Presidio Heights, it's $6,750,000. The zip code mixes these two - and other neighborhoods - of totally different values together, which leads to a  median sales price that doesn't apply to any of the neighborhoods within the zip code.  The zip code 94109 includes Pacific Heights, Western Addition, Tenderloin, Russian Hill, and Nob Hill.
